Summer's Here...

Summer is here and things are getting chaotic at work. We have an awesome summer schedule planned for our students but in the midst of that we are juggling vacations, other trips, and maintaining our week to week operations. It can get pretty chaotic. I've noticed that getting bogged down with all of this is starting to take a toll on me and to top it off my car is not starting...
Amidst all of this chaos I'm finding that I need to rekindle some of my old passions that have fallen by the way side since moving back to Washington, not due to disinterest but rather to a busy work schedule and school. This summer I plan to start climbing again and working out more. I've also found a new passion in yardwork, I know it sounds weird, the one thing that every teenage guy despised growing up is now something that is quite therapeutic for me.

So I'm curious...what do you do to maintain sanity amid ministry chaos and weeks away from home during the summer?

Honestly, I am still trying to figure that out.

Exercise is always good. Bike riding is awesome, hiking is good (you should go with me sometime), fishing is good. Yeah, a lot of people think fishing is boring waiting for something to happen, but I just see it more as time to just relax and enjoy God's creation, and then suddenly getting a nice surprise when you actually hook something. I have a few poles if you want to go sometime, or borrow one (or more) is fine too. Just a few ideas. Try some window shopping in Olympia, or go hunt out a farmers market (since you like yard work, get some nice flowers or veggies for your garden).

Ryan I really think you would like yoga. There are a lot of different forms out there that are pretty wacky and stuff, but I've started P90X (yes the ridiculous late night infomercials with Tony Horton DON'T JUDGE ME!) and the yoga section of the workouts is amazing. It's the most complete total body workout I've ever had and it seems to give me the greatest overall accomplishment and pleasure. So just a thought.

Also you should check out the link on my pages. These videos I think you would find interesting and in good taste. AND i'm really interested to see what you think of them. Later amigo.
