The Beauty of God's Grace

Tonight I was reminded of a wonderful song called Came to the Rescue by Hillsong United. One of my students was putting together the set list for Sunday's Altitude Worship Service and placed that song on the list. It's a beautiful song describing God's open hand reaching down to rescue us.
It reminded me of how our lives are nothing without the grace of God. A wonderful gift freely given. We don't have to earn it, we just have to accept it. How great is our God! I often hear this idea referred to in the negative, i.e. "Nothing we can do can make us worthy of God's grace.", however true that statement is I believe that it changes the emphasis of the wonderful act of God's loving embrace and open arms onto the depravity of man. Rather, view this idea in the positive. God loves us no matter what and we don't have to do anything to earn it. Grace is a beautiful thing, something that I can't truly comprehend. I do know that I need to extend the grace God has granted me to others and be a loving and gracious Christian who embraces people where they are not based on what they should be.

Came to the Rescue

Falling on my knees in worship
Giving all I am to seek your face
Lord all I am is yours

My whole life
I place in your hands
God of Mercy
Humbled I bow down
In your presence at your throne

I called you answered
And you came to my rescue and I
I wanna be where you are

In my life be lifted high
In our world be lifted high
In our love be lifted high

Have you embraced God as your rescuer? Let us not forget His love for us!
